Congrats to IV core team on pulling something very improbable; filing I-485 till Aug 17th honoring the July visa bulletin.
Any idea what are the options for Employment-based CP? I already applied for CP and am waiting for Packet 3. Packet 3 itself takes 6-8 weeks for processing. I tried to find info when visa number is alloted when u choose CP for greencard. I am getting conflicting information.
Can I file I-485; can I switch to 485 from CP. How long does the switch take. Thanks for ur inputs.

Here is my situation, I will file for I-485 on July 1st.....but on July 21 I have to leave U.S....and my question is:
Can you leave the country as soon as you filed for I-485? or you have to wait for I-485 reciept?...I know it's mandatory to stay in U.S at the time of filing for I-485.....And is it true that after you file for I-485 you can leave U.S without any problems?
Please advise me.

You cannot file for a new EAD more than 120 days before the old one expires. You are within that 120-day period, so I would apply ASAP.

I am filling out an LCA online for an employer who is hiring someone as an H-1B transfer. I am using iCERT and had a question as I go through the process:
Part E. Attorney of Agent Information
16. Law firm/Business FEIN:
This sections asks me for my law firm tax ID number. However, I am a solo practitioner so do not have a TIN or EIN - I use my SSN for taxes etc.
If I leave this part blank, or put N/A will this make them deny my LCA? I called their help desk, but am waiting (who knows how long) for them to respond.

You should pay taxes in PA.
In case your employer is running the payroll from MI, then file MI taxes as Non resident and PA as resident. You will get credit for paying non resident taxes in MI on PA's state tax form.
Don't pay resident taxes in the state where you are not staying. I got this info from a HR block tax consultant..

My spouse is out of country and she cannot comeback immediately since we are waiting for my H1 extension approval. Taking visa appointment days and airline availability in to consideration, she may not be able to make it back before end of july. I heard you can always add spouse later while 485 is still in progress. What are the implications if I go this path ?
