The big news today was Senator Reid now backtracking and promising climate change legislation before immigration reform. But in a seeming effort to show the Democrats are close to ready to go on immigration reform, Senators Reid, Schumer and Menendez began circulating a detailed outline of a comprehensive immigration reform bill that appears to exclude Senator Graham. There are many positive things in the plan, a few worrisome ones and several new concepts. Incidentally, the new two stage legalization process looks very familiar. The Technology section of the New York Times (http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/13/googles-immigration-fixer/?partner=rss&emc=rss) this week ran an article about an employee at Google whose job it is to "fix" problems Google employees have with the immigration system. The article is interesting, but what is really striking is the tone of the comments to the online article. There is a display of real anger at Google's hiring of foreign workers in this time of economic hardship - when so many U.S. citizens are looking for work. Read the article. What's your opinion?

Goal = 5000 votes on survey (see I-485 filing w/o current PD thread) and momentum to continue with this campaign.The survey is a platform to gather and push for launching action items. Based on response by 04/30/2011 - IV will decide whether to even proceed with initiative or not.

As suggested by pappu/starsun, this supporting thread provides impacted members with additional information and tools to help the initiative.

As pappu stated in the first post of the above referenced thread - some of the ongoing efforts include finding how many IV members would get benefit from such a provision and get basic details such as username/Priority Date of impacted members. Future action items might include drafting documents and letters to support this provision. There maybe actions such as sending emails etc. However we would not be able to open a public action item unless we can have thousands of our members willing to participate in a grassroots action item. This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.
The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.

2. EB2 PD-May 2000 Project Manager/Senior Architect/Team Lead Degree: Masters in CS prior to 2K
American co., no need to pay for labor. Should come with a project with a corp to corp option. Co. has clients but it may take time as July 16th is last date.

I just wandering, how long would it takes get decision in I 485 after FP (background check Cleared)?
I just not make sense to me, that a lot of people file on May and June () are getting approval on September 17, 2007, but latest processing time in NSC for I 485 is December 21, 2006. If that case, my I 485 was filed on July 2, 2007, and it will got approve by the end of this year.
Can someone explain to me how this work or how USCIS make a decision for I 485?

You should change to H-4 (assuming you are eligible) if you are not working. You should be able to change back H-1B later and get the remainder of your 6 years, without being subject to the cap, if you find a new employer. It is important not to violate status now, and not working violates your H-1 status even if the lack of work is not your choice.

Both cards should arrive to the address that CIS has on file for the couple. The wife's departure from the US should not affect this. However, she needs to have the card to return to the US, ideally. Hopefully husband can send her the card.

After we have filed for 485 and lets say we (me and my spouse) receive our EAD's. If I quit my job after 6 months of filing, can my spouse (secondary applicant) continue to renew her EAD's or would she have problems since I (the primary applicant) is no longer working for the company and maybe working for myself?
