I think u r right. We shouldn't think abt our future in this country and nor abt the people who were in backlog as we r the one's who suffered the most.Y we have to suffer because of mis-communication between DOS n USCIS.If they will be taking our reaction in negative way let them. If they want to revive CIR(Legal immigration-point system) , let them do. If they do, the same as British did , let them. Let see our present, don't worry about future.If they think to throw us back to our home country ,the right they have , let them do. But i just want to say is that- if they made an inquiry over this issue,not only they'll hold all backlog cases that r approved now but also they will stop issuing new visa numbers till this is resolved-result -delaying the process more. It will definetely take time. The thing is atleast backlog is cleared now, so the process will move smoothly.But anyway lets fight for injustice done to us.Lets don't wait for oct opening.We want now!!!

My brothers in blood, please calm down� Mahatma Gandhi had his own way of fighting for freedom and so did Subhash Chandra Bose. They must have agreed and disagreed with each other on many things. But at the end of day, their motive was the same �Justice and Freedom�.
We might have our differences, our opinions and ways of doing things, but we need to understand that our motive is the same. We should stop bickering with each other and concentrate on the main goal. We should keep encouraging our members to join hands and unite and fight for the cause.
Though you might not agree with each other, you still need to see how severely the issue must have affected the other person which is why they are here and ready to fight.
Please pull your swords to fight the injustice rather than fight with each other.

Lets target to reach 25k by the end of this week.
800 more to get to 20K = 8 contributions @100 each, and then
5000 more to get to 25k = 50 contributions @100 each
And we have "thousands" of registered members
And there are "hundreds of thousands" of people who benefited from last year's July visa bulletin due to IV's efforts.
Folks, now more than ever, we need you to be just a little less self centered and open up your hearts, not for some other people, but your own cause.

I have seen some really well written letters from CORE before. If core can help us - we will all put in our two cents and can come up with a really good letter rather than rush in one!

Core members: Do you think mass mailing will get any attention. And do you think mass mailing everymonth to a selected group of people will work at all.

Pappu - it is good to know that we are using the current mass media in this techie country (actually world...should say). Anything "Open" would yield good results.
My suggestion is not only contribution but also careful screening of opinions would be needed.

As requested by IV core, from now on my recurring contributions would be $50 ( till date it was $20).
As fellow legal immigrants each of us share a responsibility to ease the process of GC. If each and every member engages in a financial contribution our confidence as a team would grow by leaps and bounds. This i believe would let core team lobby a lot stronger for our causes.
I hope all contributing members would be a motivation for other IV members to contribute.

Receipt date is not the date when the application reaches the service center. It is infact the date when your application is entered into their internal system which could be several days after the application has reached the service center.
And all application they enter into the system.. then give us a Receipt Date Right ... from that time we can apply for EAD / AP (will take time again)

Why can't we have a fax campaign like NumbersUSA and fax the respective senators.
I think when it is re-introduced again we need to flood the nay/abstained senators with faxes asking them for changing the vote.

Our company fund drive is at 12500$ (in 4 days).. We're trying to hit 15K
by Wednesday, which I hope we'll be able to race past.
Any other company wants to challenge our Drive? :)

Please start an IV fund drive, so that you can do this on a company basis.
Theres one going on in mine..and guess what..20 contributions in a couple of hours.

You should receive the approval papers in a few weeks...
In case you donot, you have to follow up with PBEC...
If you donot get anywhere with that followup, there are some people who filed I-140s without the actual paper. In that case the USCIS sends a RFE to the PBEC.....

Of course the vote had to fail. Senate is Dem controlled and they are anti-legal presently. But the fact that it got voted down by a few votes should give us some optimism.

There seems to be 2 different opions about the process after CIS has received hundreds of thousands of applications until Aug 17th.
1. Once received, CIS cannot sort out the applications according to PD, so only RD is important.
2. PD is still an important factor, so if CIS is stuck with tons of applications on their hand, they will prioritize them by PD, which means if you have PD Dec 2004 and RD Jul 25 2007, you will be approved earlier than someone with PD Mar 2005 and RD Jul 2 2007.
Greg Siskind, an immigration lawyer known to most folks here for his blog, says in his new FAQs that CIS should work on by PD.
I think that's a fair thing, but I'm wondering how they would be able to sort out the flood of applications. Any idea?
